Applications

Soft-8 is an aqueous solution of cationic guar (guar hydroxypropyl trimonium chloride), developed specifically for use as a substantive polymeric conditioner for hair and skin care applications. It has been shown to be compatible, and to maintain unsurpassed finished product clarity with a wide variety of both anionic and amphoteric surfactant blends.

Soft-8 is supplied as a ready-to-use, 10% nominal solids, clear liquid, odor-free solution, requiring no heat or pH adjustment.

Soft08 is recommended for use in a variety of hair and skin care applications. Its utility is best realized in clear, 2-in-1 shampoo formulations, Soft-8 can provide excellent detangling benefits during wet combing, as well as enhancement of dry combing. In addition, Soft-8 does not build-up on the hair in day-to-day usage. In skin care products, cationic guar provides a lubricious felling, which is often perceived by the consumer as a softer, smoother and moisturized skinfeel.

Recommended use level is 0.2%-0.5% (dry polymer basis) (2%-5% wet basis) in hair care applications.

In skin care applications, such as body washes or liquid hand soap, higher levels (up to 1.0% dry basis) may be appropriate and can be incorporated with retention of finished product clarity.
